Maze Heart Surgery

Over the years, heart surgeons at Mayo Clinic in Rochester have performed more than 500 maze operations. This includes patients with isolated atrial fibrillation, acquired heart disease and congenital heart disease.

Of the Mayo Clinic patients who have had the maze procedure, 95 percent had no atrial fibrillation at discharge.

Of patients who have undergone the maze procedure, 78 percent had another procedure at the same time (valve repair, vavle replacement, coronary artery bypass graft – CABG, atrial septal defect repair, etc.)
