The Mayo Clinic Cardiothoracic (heart and lung) Transplant Team has performed 102 lung transplants since the lung transplant program began in 1990, with 15 transplants done in 2006. Longterm survival rates for Mayo Clinic routinely exceed the national average.

Active laboratory research programs contribute to advancements and refinements in this important clinical field.

Treatment Team

The lung transplant program is directed by surgical and medical specialists in cardiothoracic transplantation and provides integrated care through specialists in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, Thoracic (Chest) Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Anesthesiology and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
