Lung Volume Reduction Surgery

Lung volume reduction surgery is performed by specialists in Thoracic Surgery, who work closely with doctors in Pulmonary Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to care for individuals before and after surgery.

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is one of 26 centers in the United States eligible for reimbursement for lung volume reduction surgery by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Minnesota location also has a state-of-the-art pulmonary rehabilitation program, for patients before and after surgery, to build lung capacity and maximize the benefits of surgery.
