The Liver Transplant program at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is known nationally and internationally as a center of excellence. Since the first liver transplant was performed at Mayo Clinic in 1985, more than 1,300 patients have undergone liver transplantation in Rochester. Our multidisciplinary team approach to health care, experienced staff and quality facilities have allowed us to achieve short and long-term patient survival rates far above national averages. The establishment of the Mayo Clinic William J. von Liebig Transplant Center has also been a milestone in transplantation at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The consolidation of all transplant programs (liver, kidney, pancreas, islet cell, heart, lung, bone marrow) into the Transplant Center has permitted unprecedented multidisciplinary cooperation and integrated care, further enabling us to improve the health and lives of our patients.
