Liver Cancer

Types

  • Hepatocellular carcinoma develops in hepatocyte cells (outer layer of the liver) and is the most common liver malignancy.
  • Fibrolamellar carcinoma is a condition in which malignant hepatocyte cells (outer layer) are intersected by fibrous bands.
  • Cholangiocarcinoma develops in the small bile ducts within the liver (bile duct cancer).
  • Secondary liver cancer spreads to the liver from another cancerous site within the body (metastatic cancer).
