Lewy Body Dementia

Treatment

Mayo Clinic doctors trained in nervous system conditions (neurologists) and other specialists care for people who have Lewy body dementia and related conditions.

Your doctors will tailor your treatment program to your specific needs. Lewy body dementia can't be cured, but doctors can help you manage your condition. You may have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and studies in the Mayo Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC).

Your treatment may include medications. Drugs can't slow or stop Lewy body dementia, but some medications may help treat your symptoms. Medications may help maintain your thinking skills, and improve your movement symptoms, psychological symptoms and behavior symptoms.

Your treatment team will educate you and your family members about Lewy body dementia. Your doctor will coordinate your follow-up care with your primary doctor.
