Lewy Body Dementia

Symptoms

Symptoms for Lewy body dementia include progressive cognitive decline such as forgetfulness, disorientation and confusion. Symptoms can also include visual hallucinations and Parkinson's-like symptoms such as rigid muscles, slowed movement and tremors. Fainting, falling, abnormal sleep behavior and depression are also common.

If the Lewy bodies are in damaged regions deep in the brain, the patient will have more Parkinson's-like symptoms. If the Lewy bodies are more widespread throughout the brain, the patient will have more Alzheimer's-like symptoms.
