Interest Groups

Diversity interest groups offer employees the opportunity to share friendship, peer support, fun and relaxation with co-workers. Interest groups collaborate to make connections and celebrate the differences that make each of us unique. Employees are welcome to participate in any interest group.

Groups

African Descendants Support Network (ADSN)
ADSN optimizes the experiences of staff and employees of African descent to advance practice, education and research. ADSN focuses include community outreach, career development and mentoring, and networking and strategic partnerships. ADSN-sponsored events include:

  • Annual community health fair
  • Black History Month celebrations
  • Career mentoring and book club
  • Community volunteer and socializing opportunities
  • George Gibbs Jr. lecture series

Chinese Networking Group (CNG)
CNG enhances Chinese employees' professional and social experiences, with the goal of promoting clinical practice, education and research. CNG strives to:

  • Create and strengthen the professional community
  • Develop and sustain a social network and mentoring resources
  • Encourage mutual respect, effective communication, and understanding of different cultures
  • Contribute to Mayo's efforts in diversification and globalization

Circle of Caribbean Latin African Sisters (CCLAS)
CCLAS creates, develops and strengthens social and professional relationships within Mayo Clinic and the Rochester community. Women of Caribbean, Latin and African heritage share common values, food and musical roots while maintaining their unique experiences and cultural backgrounds. CCLAS provides opportunities to:

  • Network for and with women of Caribbean, Latin and African descent
  • Share cultural perspectives
  • Develop mentoring and coaching relationships
  • Support professional development through the exchange of ideas and experiences
  • Provide support and outreach to family members
  • Support Mayo Clinic's diversity efforts

GLBTI Diversity Networking Group
Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgendered Intersex (GLBTI) Diversity Networking Group promotes and protects the rights and dignity of GLBTI people who work at, visit and come to Mayo Clinic for health care. The group is an institutional resource to raise awareness of, and educate others about, GLBTI people.

Hispanic Diversity Networking Group (HDNG)
HDNG acknowledges, celebrates, and provides education about the Hispanic culture and heritage of patients, visitors, and employees as well as that of the citizens of Rochester, Minn. HDNG works to contribute to a positive, supportive, inclusive environment that respects and values the cultural diversity of patients, visitors, employees and citizens.

Jamaican Diversity Networking Group (JDNG)
JDNG was formed in the spirit of promoting diversity at Mayo Clinic. Membership includes a small and growing network of Jamaican employees. JDNG is committed to providing education about Jamaica's diverse people and colorful culture. In the spirit of the Jamaican motto, "Out of many, one people," JDNG welcomes all who are interested, regardless of ethnicity or nationality.

Mayo Social Networking Group
The Mayo Social Networking Group welcomes all employees and their families who wish to network with other professionals. The group aims to foster networking and social opportunities for all employees and area residents through social, educational and cultural engagement.

The Philippine Cultural Club Diversity Networking Group (PCCDNG)
PCCDNG was created to serve the increasing population of Filipinos at Mayo Clinic. The group welcomes all who are interested in joining, regardless of ethnicity.

Sri Lankan Diversity Networking Group (SLDNG)
SLDNG is an all-inclusive community that welcomes those interested in mentoring, networking and volunteering. Its goal is to share the Sri Lankan spirit with Mayo clinic employees and in the community. SLDNG fosters diversity through mutual respect, cultural activities and volunteering.
