Mayo Clinic in Rochester offers numerous opportunities for employees to grow and advance in their career. This begins with an extensive, individualized orientation which includes an overview of the division, and a detailed introduction to the specialty led by nurse educators and preceptors.

Employees have the opportunity to participate in specialty staff development classes to achieve their professional goals. Finally, Mayo believes that professional development begins well before the first day of employment. To augment colleges' and universities' educational programs, Mayo has affiliation agreements with select nursing programs and surgical technologist programs (Rochester Community and Technical College, and Northland Community and Technical College) to provide clinical rotations.
