Although best known for its clinical practice, Mayo Clinic in Rochester has more than 180 full-time research physicians and scientists and more than 300 fellows on staff. We believe that all biomedical research, whether basic or clinical, ultimately leads to better patient care. So we place a strong emphasis on research that can be translated from "bench to bedside." Mayo is internationally recognized for investigative programs in several areas of basic science and clinical research. An annual budget of nearly $250 million supports these efforts. Our research is distinguished by highly collaborative interactions between investigators studying basic science and those focused on research applications to clinical problems.
