Rehabilitation Nursing Specialties

Pulmonary Ventilator Rehabilitation - MB6F
This nine-bed unit is designed to care for mechanically ventilated patients and/or those with acute respiratory care needs. The focus of care is patient and family teaching, rehabilitation, and discharge preparation into the community with adequate care providers and equipment. The unit utilizes a multidisciplinary medical team approach.

Schedule options:

  • 8/12 combination; work 8-hour shifts weekdays, with 12-hour shifts every third weekend
  • 12-hour shifts, with every third weekend

Rehabilitation - MB3CF
This 47-bed unit accepts patients who have a temporary, progressive, or permanent illness or disability that interrupts or alters their physiological function, psychological adaptation, social situation, economic status, and/or vocation. The unit functions with a team concept. Team members include the patient, physical medicine consultants and residents, nursing staff, social workers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, recreational therapists, psychologists, dietitians, and chaplains. Developing independence, achieving self-reliance and establishing healthy interpersonal relationships are the main goals of rehabilitation. The unit is accredited as both a traumatic brain injury center and spinal cord injury center by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Schedule options:

  • 8-hour shifts, with every other weekend
  • 8/12 combination; work 8-hour shifts weekdays, with 12-hour shifts every third weekend
