Nurse Residency Program Applications

The Nurse Residency Program is currently being reviewed. Please watch for information this fall regarding future Mayo Clinic Nurse Residency Program offerings.

The Nurse Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona has two opportunities:

• Critical care unit (only candidates with paid critical care experience, or an official internship or externship not related to their clinical rotations, will be considered)
• Medical/surgical unit

Requirements

To be eligible for the Nurse Residency Program, you must have:

• Successfully completed nursing studies and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
• Graduated within the past 12 months or will graduate prior to the start of the program
• Achieved an overall cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

State of Arizona nursing (R.N.) licensure

To begin the R.N. state licensure application process prior to graduation, visit the Arizona State Board of Nursing website and click RN/LPN Application by Examination.

Current Arizona R.N. license is required upon hire. Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or more from your start date. Electrocardiogram (ECG) competency must be completed satisfactorily within six months of hire and maintained annually. You must also maintain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by your specific unit, as well as any specialty certifications required by your unit.

Those hired as an R.N. after Jan. 1, 2013, who do not currently have either a baccalaureate or master's degree in nursing will be required to complete a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program within six years of their start date.
