Assists the supervisor in the day-to-day operations under the guidelines set up by the Linen and Central Services (LCS) Director and adheres to Mayo policies. In collaboration with the supervisor adjusts staffing levels to workload. Assist with guiding, developing, disciplining, and maintaining a staff that provides quality products. Will maintain technical and clinical expertise in all areas and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
Tracks usage trends for linen and equipment. Works collaboratively with customer departments to select/replace products while balancing patient needs, cost, standardization issues and institutional cultures and contracts. Utilizes continuous improvement methods to enhance the quality, availability, and standardization of linen and equipment. Will work with purchasing and various vendors to assure quality supplies are available and at a reasonable price. Reviews case management information to understand costs related to linen and equipment and subsequently works with customer departments to look for opportunities, which reduce expenses. Must be familiar with the standards: The Joint Commission, Infection Control, ERTKA, OSHA and other Mayo Clinic standards, which are considered when, determining purchases.
Supervises lead technicians, clerks and assigned staff. Responsible for workflow and functions related to the disinfecting, processing, sterilization and distribution of linen and sterile/non-sterile products maintained by the department. Assists the director in the development of and responsible for management of policies, procedures, quality assurance, education, continuous improvement and finances in compliance with standards outlined by Mayo Clinic and regulatory/governing organizations (The Joint Commission, OSHA, ERTKA, ADA, etc.).
