For children with idiopathic or immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), Mayo Clinic offers a child-friendly environment and the latest treatment approaches from highly skilled pediatric hematologists. The treatment and diagnosis process is similar in adults and children. Physicians may choose to observe the patient carefully for minor cases because many times ITP in children will resolve by itself. If hematologists choose to observe the patient's ITP they may provide treatment for any accompanying symptom the patient has. Children who need inpatient care stay at Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital.
