Intraoperative Radiation Therapy

Treatment in Arizona

Intraoperative radiation therapy

One of only nine FDA-approved mobile Intraoperative Electron Radiation (IOERT) machines in the world, the Mobetron is in use at Mayo Clinic Hospital, the only medical center in the Southwest with this new treatment option. The Mobetron can be brought to the operating room during surgery at Mayo Clinic Hospital.

In Arizona, the technique is used to treat gastrointestinal (colon, rectal, pancreatic, esophagus, stomach, biliary), breast, gynecologic, renal, and head/neck cancers and sarcomas (soft tissue cancers).
