Mayo Clinic has a long history of providing care for patients around the world. During the early 1900s, the Mayo brothers traveled frequently throughout the world to bring the latest medical advances to Mayo Clinic and its patients. During their trips they shared their surgical expertise and learned new techniques from other surgeons. That tradition continues today as Mayo physicians and researchers regularly travel overseas to teach, study, develop professional relationships and forge collaborative research endeavors.

Mayo Clinic's global reach is also reflected in its clinical outreach programs as well as humanitarian medical missions that have positively affected the lives of thousands of patients in their own countries.
