Research

Research activities within Internal Medicine are thriving. Within the department, there are approximately 660 active patient-oriented research protocols and nearly 4,000 basic research protocols. Each year, department faculty generate more than $70 million in external research support. Of that, $50 million comes from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), ranking us among the top departments of medicines in the country for NIH funding.
