Public Affairs

Program Details

Interns with the Department of Public Affairs at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota gain work experience in a broad range of corporate communications at an internationally respected medical center.

Typically, interns are asked to:

  • Conduct interviews and write articles for Mayo publications and Web sites
  • Develop communication plans for internal clients
  • Write news releases, respond to media inquiries, assist with news conferences, and coordinate and supervise media interviews on campus
  • Research, write, edit, and coordinate production of general information materials for patients
  • Write scripts and coordinate production of audiovisual presentations and/or videos
  • Research and develop web content for MayoClinic.org

Internships are available for fall/winter and summer. The fall/winter internship is 16 weeks in length. The summer internship is 12 weeks in length. Starting dates will be negotiated as to complement the student's academic schedule.
