Program Details

The DAHLC internships offer students the opportunity to gain quality career experience though daily, on-the-job interaction with colleagues. You will become a valued member of the Mayo Clinic team.

Orientation

All interns begin their internship with an orientation designed to acclimate them to the Rochester community, Mayo Clinic, and the DAHLC. There will be opportunities for both classroom work and hands-on training.

"The DAHLC was a great place to gain knowledge and experience about my future profession. I was able to meet and learn from some of the top health care professional in the field today."

- Wendi Sobaski, Truman State University

Other Activities

DAHLC internships offer an educational work experience and an opportunity to live and socialize with others from around the country.

The Rochester area has a lot to offer! See Rochester Community Information for more activities in our area.

Benefits

All interns receive a free membership to the DAHLC.
As part of the program, you will have access to:

  • an assigned email account for both job-related and personal use.
  • Mayo Clinic-sponsored recreational programs.
  • discount tickets to local and regional special events (available through the employee ticket offices, located in the Mayo Building and in the DAHLC).
  • liability insurance while on duty.

Housing

While you have the choice of making your own housing arrangements in the community, Mayo does provide subsidized housing at Evanston Heights, a student housing complex, located 2.5 miles from Mayo Clinic. Many students choose to live at Evanston Heights because it is convenient, affordable, and a good place to meet friends. You will be assigned roommates with a total of four people to an apartment. Each apartment features four bedrooms furnished with a chest of drawers, a single desk and chair, standard twin- size bed and large closet. Each apartment has two full baths with showers, a spacious living room and dining area furnished with a couch, matching end table, easy chair and a five-piece dinette set. The kitchen comes with a refrigerator and an electric range with oven. You will have a private bedroom. For more information check out www.evanstonheights.com or contact Sheri Kline at (608) 784-5858.
