Infectious Diseases in Minnesota

Research

The Division of Infectious Diseases has the following mission:

  • To provide highest-quality, compassionate subspecialty care to our patients in a spirit of collaborative teamwork and in a scholarly setting that fosters lifelong learning.
  • To be leaders in advancing medical science related to infectious diseases.
  • To educate outstanding physicians for a lifetime of learning, contributions, and leadership in infectious diseases.

We believe that the care we deliver must be proven to be effective through a scientific approach. Consequently, we are engaged in a broad range of research projects in both basic science and clinical areas of infectious diseases including the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and immunology of infectious diseases, emerging pathogens, novel diagnostive and therapeutic approaches, gene therapy, antimicrobial resistance, and counterbioterrorism. These efforts will ensure that we will remain at the cutting edge of medical science, providing state-of-the-art care for present and future patients.
