Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Overview

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a heart condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick. The thickened heart muscle can cause the heart to have difficulty pumping blood. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy often causes the wall (septum) dividing the two lower heart chambers (ventricles) to thicken, which can cause reduced blood flow in and out of the heart.
