Tips for Lowering Hypertension
- Do not add salt at the table and avoid obviously salty foods.
- Limit alcohol to one drink daily if you're a woman, two if you're a man. One drink is defined as one 5-ounce glass of wine, one 12-ounce beer or a 1½ ounce shot of 80-proof liquor.
- Do graded aerobic exercise, like walking each day.
- Strive to achieve your ideal body weight.
- If your health-care provider has prescribed medication, never skip your pills!
