Hepatitis C

Research

Mayo Clinic doctors and researchers conduct clinical and laboratory research in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C and related liver disease. Researchers in the Department of Immunology are involved in identifying risks and causes of re-infection of hepatitis C after liver transplant. Researchers are also studying how hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cause liver disease.

The Infection and Immunity Lab conducts research into improving management of infectious diseases, and the Charlton Lab (fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis) has developed an animal model of hepatitis C infection designed to advance the study of new therapeutic agents.
