Outpatients

Hematology Appointment Office

Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Central Time
Patients may be referred for a full evaluation or if appropriate, for a consultation only. Current clinical, laboratory data, and radiograms should always be available at the time of the evaluation.

Referring Physicians Service
Phone: 1-800-533-1564 (toll free)

  • Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Central Time
    Secretaries are available to take information and arrange appointments directly in hematologic diseases as well as any other division or department.
  • 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
    Answering service will record the information.
    Appointment secretaries will call the referring physician (or physician's office) back between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. Central Time.

Direct line to appointment secretaries who will connect the referring physician with the staff hematology consultant on-call to arrange the hospital transfer.

Mayo Clinic Operator

During working hours, the operator can contact the staff physician on-call for hematologic diseases (or any other specialty that the referring physician needs. In emergency situations during off-hours the clinic operator will assist in dealing with the situation.

24 hours per day, 7 days per week
Direct line to Mayo Emergency Communications Center, which can connect the referring physician to a Mayo Emergency/Trauma Unit staff physician and can dispatch Gold Cross (ground ambulance), Mayo One (helicopter ambulance), or Mayo Air (fixed wing air ambulance) as needed.
