Heart Catheterization

Treatment in Minnesota

The Mayo Clinic Catheterization Laboratory in Minnesota performs a full spectrum of catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including many that are not widely available. Approximately 7,000 procedures are performed every year.

Specialists in every area of cardiac catheterization work collaboratively in the catheterization laboratory. Many conduct research on new technology and techniques to continuously enhance the quality of patient care. Read more about research.

The Mayo Clinic Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory works closely with the Interventional Cardiology Clinic, which provides rapid access for patients needing cardiac catheterization.

Cardiac catheterizations are performed by specialists within the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases. Patients may be referred to the Interventional Cardiology Clinic by their regular physician or local cardiologist. Generally, next-day access is available.
