Hearing Disorders

Hearing Aids

All three Mayo Clinic locations offer hearing aid evaluations and fittings.

All testing, consultation and fitting are done by Mayo audiologists who have access to hearing aid technology and products. Mayo audiologists have experience with almost every hearing disorder including tinnitus, noise exposure, hereditary hearing problems, hearing loss due to surgery or other medical conditions, and especially age-related hearing loss.

Mayo Clinic staff have experience fitting all types of devices, from the tiny, completely-in-the-canal, to the more traditional behind-the-ear style. Basic analog hearing aids are available as well as the most sophisticated digital aids with features such as remote controls, multiple programs and directional microphones. Mayo Clinic in Rochester offers an implantable hearing aid. Research is ongoing to make sure the latest developments in the industry are available to our patients.

Because many fittings and adjustments are sometimes necessary, hearing aids are dispensed only to patients who live within reasonable driving distance of Mayo Clinic.
