Chronic illness. Shattered dreams. Betrayals. Chemical dependency. Divorces. Fractured family relationships. But through it all, there's a resounding note of determination and the feeling, "Yes, this is hard but I'm going to get through it. And I will be stronger when I come out on the other end."
Of course, it helps to have support from others — a friend or a family member who listens in a nonjudgmental way and is there for you during difficult times. Professional help can be life-saving too.
Although you can't turn back the clock on setbacks and disappointments, your past does not have to define you. After all, the present moment is all you can control, not what happened in the past.
