The Division of General Internal Medicine provides comprehensive evaluations to out-of-town adults with complex medical problems. Offices are on the fourth floor of the Davis Building on the Mayo Clinic campus. (Jacksonville-area patients are seen by physicians in Community Internal Medicine.)
The general internist combines the characteristics of a diagnostician and a consultant in disease prevention and health promotion. Primary care general internists provide a continuum of care between the hospital and the outpatient setting. By virtue of training in medical specialties, general internists are adept at caring for patients with multisystem disease.
