Ganglion Cyst

Overview

A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump that develops in various parts of the body, typically near joints. Most commonly, a ganglion cyst is found on the top or underside of your wrist or at the base of a finger. A ganglion cyst grows out of a joint like a balloon on a stalk. Inside is thick, slippery fluid similar to that found in joints. The cyst may grow with continual, strenuous use of your affected limb, and it may shrink when that limb is at rest. Sometimes the cyst can compress a neighboring nerve.
