Dr. William W. Mayo once said, "No one is big enough to be independent of others." His sons, Dr. William J. Mayo and Dr. Charles H. Mayo, traveled the world to learn new ideas from others and bring them back for their patients. They also served as presidents of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons, among other groups.
