The Summer Nurse Extern Program, offered by Mayo Clinic in Arizona, is an opportunity to gain experience providing direct patient care as part of an interdisciplinary health care team. The program is offered annually, beginning in late May.
You are eligible for the Summer Nurse Extern Program if you are currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and have completed your junior year of a baccalaureate program in nursing, including completion of two semesters of clinical nursing experience or must be completing your third semester (Block III) of an associate program in nursing, including three semesters of clinical nursing experience.
During the 10 weeks of the Summer Nurse Extern Program, you will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with registered nurses at Mayo Clinic Hospital. You will gain valuable clinical experience by providing care to a diverse patient population. Nurse extern opportunities are available on all inpatient clinical areas.
You will also be welcome to participate in Mayo-sponsored continuing education activities, and enjoy access to medical libraries, Grand Rounds, and a variety of programs that will add to your knowledge base. You will be considered a valuable member of the Mayo Clinic health care team.
