Ewing Sarcoma

Treatment of Children

A child-friendly environment, the latest advances in treatment and highly skilled pediatric oncologists are all part of Mayo Clinic's program in Minnesota to treat children who have Ewing sarcoma. Children who need inpatient care stay at Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's Hospital.

In Florida, pediatric oncologists from Nemours Children's Clinic and surgeons from Mayo Clinic work as a team to provide the optimum care for the child.

Specialists approach adult and pediatric cases of Ewing sarcoma with many of the same diagnostic and treatment options, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Sometimes a combination of treatments is deemed appropriate.

Mayo Clinic is a member of the Children's Oncology Group. This national consortium of cancer centers establishes effective treatment approaches for treating pediatric Ewing sarcomas. Specialists at Mayo Clinic are among the nation's leading cancer researchers and develop protocols that become standard procedures.

Treatment Team

Children with Ewing sarcoma are treated by experienced specialists in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Other specialists such as orthopedic oncologists, radiation oncologists and pediatric surgeons are consulted as the child's condition warrants.
