Treatment in Florida

Mayo Clinic in Florida offers a variety of treatment options for adults with epilepsy.

Mayo Clinic and Mayo Clinic hospital have state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including EEG labs, computed tomography scanners and devices for magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT.)

The Video-EEG Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Mayo Clinic hospital specializes in caring for people who need hospitalization for seizure evaluation.

Treatment Team

The health care team that supports Mayo Clinic's Epilepsy Program provides compassionate, coordinated and individualized care for adults with a known or suspected seizure disorder or epilepsy. Many health care professionals contribute their expertise to the care of each patient. The core care team comprises a specialist from Neurology with expertise in diagnosing and treating epilepsy (an epileptologist), a neurosurgeon who specializes in treating epilepsy and an epilepsy nurse specialist. Other specialists from Neuroradiology, Neuropsychiatry and Psychiatry and a social worker also may participate in a patient's care.

For appointments or more information, call the Epilepsy Program Coordinator's office at 904-953-6847 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday.
