The health care team that supports Mayo Clinic's Epilepsy Program provides compassionate, coordinated and individualized care for adults with a known or suspected seizure disorder or epilepsy. Many health care professionals contribute their expertise to the care of each patient. The core care team comprises a specialist from Neurology with expertise in diagnosing and treating epilepsy (an epileptologist), a neurosurgeon who specializes in treating epilepsy and an epilepsy nurse specialist. Other specialists from Neuroradiology, Neuropsychiatry and Psychiatry and a social worker also may participate in a patient's care.
