Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)

Overview

Otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat or ENT) is a surgical and medical specialty that provides diagnosis and treatment for problems related to the head and neck. Mayo Clinic has one of the largest otorhinolaryngology practices in the world, with more than 30 specialists providing care to Mayo patients. Physicians in the specialty organize their practice and research activities into the following subspecialities:

  • Audiology
  • Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • General otorhinolaryngology
  • Head and neck cancer surgery
  • Laryngology
  • Medical otorhinolaryngology
  • Otology/neurotology (hearing)
  • Pediatric otorhinolaryngology
  • Rhinology

Otorhinolaryngologists at Mayo work closely with other specialists at Mayo — such as speech and swallowing therapy, ophthalmology, pediatrics, neurosurgery, dermatology, allergy, pulmonary medicine and oncology — to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with disorders involving the head and neck. Eight otorhinolaryngologists practice at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., 21 in Rochester, Minn. and five in Arizona. Pediatric care is available in Rochester.
