An otorhinolaryngologist is a surgeon who specializes in evaluating and treating disorders of the head and neck, specifically the face, ear, nose, throat, sinuses, neck organs and skull base. The name comes from the Greek base words "oto" for ear, "rhino" for nose, and "laryngo" for throat. In the past 50 years, the specialty has expanded from "ear, nose and throat" to a surgical specialty of the head and neck.
