Endoscopic Ultrasound

Treatment in Florida

Gastroenterologists at Mayo Clinic in Florida, perform more than 1,400 endoscopic ultrasounds (EUS) a year. They have offered EUS since 1996 and are among the most experienced in the world in endoscopic ultrasound techniques. Three board-certified gastroenterologists with advanced training in endoscopic procedures provide EUS services at the clinic. Using a simulator and hands-on training, they also teach other physicians how to perform the imaging techniques and lead research studies to test promising new refinements, including optical biopsies.

Physicians in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology perform EUS procedures.

A Note to Referring Physicians

Mayo Clinic in Florida also offers a direct-access program where referring physicians may refer directly for the EUS procedure (with only basic, pre-procedure evaluation). This is designed for gastroenterologists, surgeons and oncologists who do not require a separate gastroenterological consultation but do need to request an EUS procedure. Appointments can be requested via the Gastroenterology and Hepatology office at (904) 953-7382 or via fax at (904) 953-7260. A recent (within 30 to 90 days) history and physical exam, labs (cbc, electrolytes, pt/inr) and relevant imaging (CT, MRI, endoscopy) results should be faxed for review prior to scheduling.
