Emergency Medicine in Minnesota

Overview

The Division of Emergency Medicine provides care for patients in the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic, a 51-bed facility located at Saint Marys Hospital. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a Level One Trauma Center, Saint Marys Hospital offers the highest level of emergency care possible. The Emergency Department provides care for more than 75,000 patients each year, the vast majority of whom come from Olmsted and the six adjacent counties in southeastern Minnesota. On average, 20 percent of Emergency Department patients are children. A high number of Emergency Department patients have acute or critical emergency needs.

The Saint Marys Hospital Emergency Department staff strive to provide patients with the highest quality emergency care and service in an efficient and timely manner. In the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic, a team of board-certified doctors, registered nurses, and other specially trained staff are available at all times to treat anyone seeking emergency medical care.
