Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. chills
  7. clay-colored stools
  8. cloudy urine
  9. confusion
  10. convulsions
  11. cough
  12. dark urine
  13. decreased urine output
  14. depression
  15. difficulty breathing
  16. difficulty swallowing
  17. dizziness
  18. dry mouth
  19. fainting spells
  20. fast or irregular heartbeats
  21. fever
  22. headache
  23. hives
  24. hostility
  25. increased thirst
  26. irritability
  27. itching
  28. joint pain
  29. lethargy
  30. loss of appetite
  31. loss of consciousness
  32. mood changes
  33. muscle pain or cramps
  34. muscle twitching
  35. nausea or vomiting
  36. nervousness
  37. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  38. pain in the groin or genitals
  39. pain in the lower back or side
  40. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  41. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips or tongue
  42. rapid or unusual weight gain
  43. seizures
  44. sharp back pain just below the ribs
  45. shortness of breath
  46. skin rash
  47. stupor
  48. swelling of the face, ankles, feet, or hands
  49. tightness in the chest
  50. unpleasant breath odor
  51. unusual bleeding or bruising
  52. unusual tiredness or weakness
  53. vomiting of blood
  54. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  55. wheezing
  56. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Blurred vision
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  4. indigestion
  5. pain or weakness in the hands or feet
  6. passing of gas
  7. stomach fullness or discomfort
  8. sweating
  9. trembling

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Increased sensitivity of skin to sunlight
  2. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  3. severe sunburn
