Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. dry mouth
  3. flushed, dry skin
  4. frequent urination
  5. fruit-like breath odor
  6. increased hunger
  7. increased thirst
  8. increased urination
  9. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  10. nausea
  11. stomach pain
  12. sweating
  13. thirst
  14. troubled breathing
  15. unexplained weight loss
  16. unusual tiredness or weakness
  17. vomiting

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. blood in the urine
  3. bloody stools
  4. blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  5. bruising
  6. chest pain
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. coughing or vomiting blood
  10. dark urine
  11. dizziness or lightheadedness
  12. fainting
  13. fast, slow, irregular, or shallow heartbeat
  14. fever
  15. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  16. loss of consciousness
  17. muscle cramp, spasm, pain, or stiffness
  18. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  19. persistent bleeding or oozing from puncture sites, mouth, or nose
  20. pink or red urine
  21. rash
  22. rectal bleeding
  23. stomach tenderness
  24. troubled breathing
  25. sweating
  26. vaginal bleeding

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty swallowing
  2. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  3. headache
  4. high blood pressure
  5. hives, itching, skin rash
  6. irritability
  7. light-colored stools
  8. muscle twitching
  9. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  10. restlessness
  11. seizures
  12. stomach pain, continuing
  13. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  14. tightness in the chest
  15. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement
  2. lack or loss of strength

Less common

  1. Loss of appetite
  2. weight loss
