Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness
  4. headache
  5. nausea
  6. numbness or tingling in the arms or legs
  7. swelling
  8. trouble thinking, speaking, or walking
  9. vomiting
  10. weakness
  11. weight gain

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bladder pain
  3. blood in the vomit
  4. bloody or cloudy urine
  5. blurred or loss of vision
  6. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  7. burning, itching, redness, or stinging of the skin
  8. chest pain
  9. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  10. disturbed color perception
  11. double vision
  12. frequent urge to urinate
  13. halos around lights
  14. indigestion
  15. lower back or side pain
  16. night blindness
  17. overbright appearance of lights
  18. severe or continuing stomach pain
  19. stomach upset
  20. tenderness in the stomach area
  21. tunnel vision

Rare

  1. Back or leg pains
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  4. chills
  5. constipation
  6. cough or hoarseness
  7. dark urine
  8. decreased urine output
  9. difficulty with breathing
  10. difficulty with swallowing
  11. dilated neck veins
  12. extreme fatigue
  13. fast, irregular heartbeat
  14. feeling of discomfort
  15. fever
  16. general body swelling
  17. heartburn
  18. hives or welts
  19. increased thirst
  20. inflammation of the joints
  21. irregular breathing
  22. joint or muscle pain
  23. light-colored stools
  24. loss of appetite
  25. muscle aches
  26. nosebleeds
  27. pale skin
  28. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  29. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  30. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  31. red, irritated eyes
  32. severe and continuing nausea
  33. shortness of breath
  34. skin rash
  35. sore throat
  36. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  37. swelling of the face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  38. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  39. tightness in the chest
  40. trouble with breathing
  41. unusual bleeding or bruising
  42. unusual tiredness or weakness
  43. upper right abdominal pain
  44. wheezing
  45. yellow eyes and skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. bloated full feeling
  4. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  5. lack or loss of strength
  6. passing gas
  7. stomach discomfort
  8. weight loss

Less common

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. discouragement
  3. feeling sad or empty
  4. hearing loss
  5. irritability
  6. loss of interest or pleasure
  7. sleepiness
  8. tiredness
  9. trouble with concentrating
  10. trouble with sleeping

Rare

  1. Redness, swelling, or soreness of the tongue
  2. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
