Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. cough
  3. difficulty breathing
  4. loss of consciousness
  5. noisy breathing
  6. shortness of breath
  7. tightness in chest
  8. wheezing

Incidence unknown

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blood in urine or stools
  4. burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  5. chest pain
  6. chills
  7. difficulty swallowing
  8. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  9. fever
  10. hives
  11. increased transaminase levels
  12. large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  13. lower back or side pain
  14. nausea
  15. painful or difficult urination
  16. pale skin
  17. pinpoint red spots on skin
  18. reddening of the skin, especially around ears
  19. seizures
  20. sore throat
  21. sores, ulcers, or white spots on lips or in mouth
  22. swelling of eyes, face, or inside of nose
  23. swollen glands
  24. ulcers
  25. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  26. unusual bleeding or bruising
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness
  28. weakness in arms, hands, legs, or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Bitter taste
  2. metallic taste

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. cramps
  4. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  5. dizziness
  6. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  7. headache
  8. heartburn
  9. indigestion
  10. loss of appetite
  11. pain or discomfort in chest, upper stomach, or throat
  12. vomiting
  13. weight loss

Rare

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. coating on tongue
  3. congestion
  4. depression
  5. dryness or soreness of throat
  6. hoarseness
  7. mood or mental changes
  8. runny nose
  9. tender, swollen glands in neck
  10. voice changes

Incidence unknown

  1. Abnormal liver
  2. darkened urine
  3. diarrhea
  4. difficulty in moving
  5. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  6. giddiness
  7. lightheadedness
  8. muscle pain or stiffness
  9. pain, swelling, or redness in joints
  10. sensation of spinning
  11. shakiness and unsteady walk
  12. sleepiness
  13. sleeplessness
  14. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  15. tongue discoloration
  16. trembling, or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  17. trouble sleeping
  18. unable to sleep
  19. white or brownish vaginal discharge
  20. white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue
