Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. confusion
  4. cough
  5. difficult or labored breathing
  6. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  7. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  8. noisy breathing
  9. shortness of breath
  10. slow or irregular heartbeat
  11. sweating
  12. tightness in chest
  13. unusual tiredness or weakness
  14. wheezing

Rare

  1. Bloody or cloudy urine
  2. dilated neck veins
  3. extreme fatigue
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. irregular breathing
  6. pain in lower back or side
  7. small clicking, bubbling, or rattling sounds in the lung when listening with a stethoscope
  8. swelling of face, fingers, feet, or lower legs
  9. weight gain

Incidence not determined

  1. Ankle, knee, or great toe joint pain
  2. fixed position of eye
  3. headache
  4. inability to speak
  5. joint stiffness or swelling
  6. muscle cramps
  7. seizures
  8. severe numbness, especially on one side of the face or body
  9. severe or sudden headache
  10. slurred speech
  11. temporary blindness
  12. weakness in arm and/or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Lack or loss of strength

Rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. darkening of skin color
  4. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  7. difficulty in moving
  8. having a hard time focusing or doing everyday activities
  9. heartburn
  10. inability to have or keep an erection
  11. indigestion
  12. joint pain
  13. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  14. muscle aching, pains, or stiffness
  15. nausea
  16. nervousness
  17. rash
  18. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  19. sleeplessness
  20. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  21. swollen joints
  22. trouble sleeping
  23. unable to sleep
