Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. anxiety
  3. blurred vision
  4. changes in patterns and rhythms of speech
  5. chest pain or tightness
  6. chills
  7. confusion
  8. dizziness
  9. fast, slow, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  10. headache
  11. muscle cramps and stiffness
  12. neck, throat, or jaw pain
  13. nightmares
  14. shivering
  15. sweating
  16. swelling of the fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  17. tightness in the chest
  18. trouble breathing

Rare

  1. Blindness
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. chest tightness or heaviness
  4. flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
  5. increased blinking or spasms of the eyelid
  6. itching, pain, redness, or swelling
  7. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  8. nerve pain
  9. severe numbness, especially on one side of the face or body
  10. severe or continuing stomach pain
  11. trouble speaking or swallowing
  12. twitching
  13. unusual bleeding or bruising
  14. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds
  15. weakness of the arms and legs

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. back, leg, or stomach pains
  3. bleeding gums
  4. changes in vision
  5. muscle twitching
  6. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  7. poor coordination
  8. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  9. restlessness
  10. skin rash, hives, or itching
  11. unexplained bleeding or bruising
  12. unusually warm skin
  13. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body, sudden and severe

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. change in color vision
  3. change in hearing
  4. difficulty with concentrating
  5. drowsiness
  6. heartburn
  7. increased sensitivity of the eyes to sunlight
  8. joint pain
  9. muscle aching or cramping
  10. muscle stiffness or tightness
  11. swollen joints
  12. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Aggressiveness
  2. belching
  3. change in taste
  4. feeling halos around lights
  5. increased sensitivity to pain
  6. loss of appetite
  7. numbness, pain, tingling, or weakness
  8. stomach discomfort or upset
  9. tingling in the hands and feet
  10. tunnel vision
  11. weakness
