Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. indigestion
  3. loss of appetite
  4. loss of strength
  5. nausea and vomiting
  6. weight loss

Less common

  1. Fainting

Rare

  1. Aggression
  2. convulsions (seizures)
  3. trembling and shaking of the hands and fingers
  4. trouble urinating

Incidence not known

  1. Bloody or black, tarry stools
  2. chest pain or discomfort
  3. constipation
  4. difficulty with speaking
  5. drooling
  6. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  7. loss of balance control
  8. muscle trembling, jerking, or stiffness
  9. restlessness
  10. severe stomach pain
  11. shortness of breath
  12. shuffling walk
  13. slow or irregular heartbeat
  14. stiffness of the limbs
  15. trouble urinating
  16. twisting movements of the body
  17. uncontrolled movements, especially of the face, neck, and back
  18. unusual tiredness
  19. vomiting of blood or material that looks like coffee grounds

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Chest pain or discomfort
  2. increased sweating
  3. increased watering of the mouth
  4. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  5. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  6. nausea (severe)
  7. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  8. seizures
  9. slow or irregular heartbeat
  10. trouble breathing
  11. unusual tiredness
  12. vomiting (severe)

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain or cramping
  2. bloated or full feeling
  3. confusion
  4. dizziness
  5. headache
  6. mental depression
  7. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  8. trouble sleeping

Less common

  1. General feeling of discomfort or illness
  2. runny nose
