Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. difficulty with breathing
  3. difficulty with moving
  4. dizziness
  5. excessive muscle tone
  6. headache
  7. increased cough
  8. muscle pain or stiffness
  9. muscle tension or tightness
  10. nervousness
  11. pain in the joints
  12. pounding in the ears
  13. slow or fast heartbeat

Less common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. bluish lips or skin
  5. burning while urinating
  6. changes in skin color
  7. chest congestion
  8. chest pain
  9. chills
  10. cold sweats
  11. confusion
  12. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  13. cough
  14. cough producing mucus
  15. diarrhea
  16. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  17. difficult or labored breathing
  18. difficulty with swallowing
  19. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  20. fever
  21. frequent urge to urinate
  22. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  23. headache
  24. increased sputum
  25. loss of appetite
  26. low blood pressure or pulse
  27. lower back or side pain
  28. muscle aches and pains
  29. nausea
  30. pain
  31. rapid weight gain
  32. runny nose
  33. shivering
  34. shortness of breath
  35. slow breathing
  36. sneezing
  37. sore throat
  38. sweating
  39. tenderness
  40. tightness in the chest
  41. tingling of the hands or feet
  42. trouble sleeping
  43. troubled breathing
  44. unconsciousness
  45. unusual tiredness or weakness
  46. unusual weight gain or loss
  47. vomiting
  48. wheezing

Rare

  1. Continuing sores in the mouth
  2. convulsions
  3. increased thirst
  4. lack of coordination
  5. lack of energy
  6. mental depression
  7. mood or mental changes
  8. muscle cramps, pain, or weakness
  9. pain, tenderness, bluish color, or swelling of the foot or leg
  10. redness, scaling, or peeling of the skin
  11. swelling of the eyelids, mouth, lips, tongue, or throat
  12. swelling of the face
  13. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. acid or sour stomach
  3. belching
  4. drowsiness
  5. heartburn
  6. indigestion
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. numbness or tingling around the mouth
  9. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  10. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  11. weight loss

Less common

  1. Back or muscle pain or stiffness
  2. constipation
  3. cracks in the skin
  4. dizziness or lightheadedness
  5. dry mouth
  6. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  8. full feeling
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  11. irritation or soreness of the mouth
  12. itching skin
  13. loss of heat from the body
  14. passing gas
  15. sensation of spinning
  16. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
  17. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  18. sleeplessness
  19. sore mouth or tongue
  20. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  21. tooth problems
  22. unable to sleep
  23. white patches in the mouth, tongue, or throat
