Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Back pain or spasms
  2. blurred vision
  3. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  4. chest pain
  5. chills
  6. cloudy urine
  7. confusion
  8. cough
  9. coughing up blood
  10. decreased urine output
  11. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  12. fainting
  13. fast, slow, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  14. feeling of warmth
  15. feeling unusually cold
  16. fever
  17. headache
  18. increased thirst
  19. lower back or side pain
  20. muscle pain or cramps
  21. nausea
  22. nervousness
  23. nosebleeds
  24. painful or difficult urination
  25. pounding in the ears
  26. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  27. seizures
  28. shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
  29. shivering
  30. sweating
  31. swelling of the face, hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  32. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  33. trouble breathing
  34. unusual tiredness or weakness
  35. vomiting

Less common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. difficulty swallowing
  3. dizziness
  4. inability to speak
  5. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  6. loss of consciousness
  7. low blood pressure or pulse
  8. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  9. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  10. pale skin
  11. paralysis
  12. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  13. red or black, tarry stools
  14. red or dark brown urine
  15. severe constipation
  16. severe headaches of sudden onset
  17. severe numbness, especially on one side of the face or body
  18. slurred speech
  19. sore throat
  20. stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  21. sudden loss of coordination
  22. sudden onset of slurred speech
  23. sudden vision changes
  24. sweating
  25. temporary blindness
  26. ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  27. unusual bleeding or bruising
  28. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing

Incidence not known

  1. Full feeling and pain in the upper abdomen
  2. nausea
  3. sudden weakness in the arms or legs
  4. sudden, severe chest pain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Cracked lips
  2. diarrhea
  3. hair loss or thinning
  4. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
