Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. burning or stinging of the skin
  3. dark urine
  4. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  5. fast heartbeat
  6. fever
  7. general tiredness and weakness
  8. hives
  9. hoarseness
  10. increased thirst
  11. irritation
  12. itching
  13. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  14. light-colored stools
  15. loss of appetite
  16. lower back or side pain
  17. nausea and vomiting
  18. pain in the groin or genitals
  19. painful blisters on the trunk of the body
  20. painful cold sores or blisters on the lips, nose, eyes, or genitals
  21. rash
  22. redness of the skin
  23. sharp back pain just below the ribs
  24. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, lower legs, or feet
  25. tightness in the chest
  26. troubled breathing or swallowing
  27. unusual tiredness or weakness
  28. upper right abdominal or stomach pain
  29. weight gain
  30. yellow eyes and skin

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. headache
  4. muscle cramps or spasms
  5. muscle pain or stiffness
  6. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  7. stomach pain, continuing
  8. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Dizziness
  2. trouble sleeping

Less common or rare

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. depression
  4. heartburn
  5. indigestion
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  8. tenderness in the stomach area
  9. thoughts of killing oneself or changes in behavior

Incidence not known

  1. Delusions of persecution, mistrust, suspiciousness, or combativeness
  2. diarrhea
  3. fear or nervousness
