Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal pain, cramping, or tenderness
  2. agitation
  3. bleeding gums
  4. bloating
  5. blood in the urine or stools
  6. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  7. blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  8. blurred vision
  9. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  10. change in consciousness or confusion
  11. chest pain or discomfort
  12. chills
  13. clay-colored stools
  14. constipation
  15. convulsions
  16. coughing or vomiting blood
  17. dark-colored urine
  18. decrease in urine volume or frequency
  19. decreased appetite
  20. depression
  21. difficult, fast, noisy breathing, sometimes with wheezing
  22. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  23. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  24. drowsiness
  25. dry mouth
  26. fainting
  27. fast, slow, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  28. feeling of hostility or irritability
  29. feeling of warmth
  30. feeling that something terrible will happen
  31. fever
  32. headache, sudden, severe
  33. heartburn
  34. hives or itching
  35. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  36. increased sweating
  37. indigestion
  38. irregular, fast, slow, or shallow breathing
  39. large, flat, blue or purplish patches in the skin
  40. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  41. loss of consciousness
  42. low body temperature
  43. muscle cramping, weakness, or tremors
  44. muscle pain or stiffness
  45. nausea or vomiting
  46. nosebleeds
  47. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  48. painful or difficult urination
  49. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  50. pale skin
  51. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  52. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  53. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  54. red or black, tarry stools or dark urine
  55. restlessness
  56. shivering
  57. shortness of breath
  58. skin rash
  59. sleepiness
  60. sunken eyes
  61. sweating
  62. swelling of face, ankles, hands, feet, or lower legs
  63. thirst
  64. tightness in the chest
  65. unusual bleeding or bruising
  66. unusual tiredness or weakness
  67. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds, severe and continuing
  68. weak or feeble pulse
  69. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  70. weight gain
  71. wheezing
  72. wrinkled skin
  73. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  2. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  3. diarrhea
  4. drowsiness
  5. enlarged pupils
  6. extremely high fever or body temperature
  7. fast, weak heartbeat
  8. hearing loss
  9. increase in heart rate
  10. restlessness
  11. severe sleepiness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  2. sleepiness

  1. Belching
  2. bloated, full feeling
  3. blurred or loss of vision
  4. change in color perception
  5. cold sweats
  6. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of the eye)
  7. cool, pale skin
  8. double vision
  9. excess air or gas in the stomach
  10. false or unusual sense of well-being
  11. flushed, dry skin
  12. fruit-like breath odor
  13. halos around lights
  14. increased hunger or thirst
  15. increased urination
  16. lack or loss of strength
  17. night blindness
  18. nightmares
  19. overbright appearance of lights
  20. red eyes
  21. redness of the skin
  22. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  23. shakiness
  24. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  25. slurred speech
  26. trouble sleeping
  27. tunnel vision
  28. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  29. weight loss
