Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
  2. hives or welts
  3. nausea
  4. vomiting

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision
  3. blue lips and fingernails
  4. chest pain or discomfort
  5. chills
  6. cold sweats
  7. coma
  8. confusion
  9. constricted, pinpoint, or small pupils (black part of eye)
  10. cool, clammy skin
  11. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  12. depression
  13. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing, sometimes with wheezing
  14. difficult or troubled breathing
  15. difficulty sleeping
  16. disorientation
  17. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position suddenly
  18. drowsiness to profound coma
  19. fast heartbeat
  20. hallucination
  21. headache
  22. increased hunger
  23. increased sweating
  24. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  25. lethargy
  26. lightheadedness
  27. mood or other mental changes
  28. nervousness
  29. nightmares
  30. no blood pressure or pulse
  31. no muscle tone or movement
  32. not breathing
  33. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  34. seizures
  35. shakiness
  36. shortness of breath
  37. slow or irregular heartbeat
  38. slurred speech
  39. stopping of heart
  40. swelling in legs and ankles
  41. unconsciousness
  42. unusual tiredness or weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Itching skin
  2. redness of skin
  3. skin rash

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
