Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bloody diarrhea
  2. rectal bleeding
  3. stomach pain

Less common

  1. Bloody stools
  2. bloody urine
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest tightness
  5. chills
  6. clay-colored stools
  7. cough
  8. dark urine
  9. diarrhea
  10. difficulty with breathing
  11. dizziness
  12. fever
  13. full or bloated feeling
  14. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  15. headache
  16. itching, skin rash
  17. joint pain
  18. loss of appetite
  19. muscle aches and pains
  20. nausea
  21. nervousness
  22. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  23. pounding in the ears
  24. pressure in the stomach
  25. runny or stuffy nose
  26. shivering
  27. slow or fast heartbeat
  28. sore throat
  29. stomach cramps
  30. sweating
  31. swelling of the stomach area
  32. trouble sleeping
  33. unpleasant breath odor
  34. unusual tiredness or weakness
  35. vomiting
  36. vomiting of blood
  37. yellow eyes or skin

Rare

  1. Anxiety
  2. back pain
  3. blue or pale skin
  4. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  3. bloating
  4. change in the ability to see colors, especially blue or yellow
  5. chest discomfort
  6. constipation
  7. decreased frequency or amount of urine
  8. dry cough
  9. greatly increased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  10. hives or welts
  11. hoarseness
  12. inability to move the arms and legs
  13. increased thirst
  14. indigestion
  15. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  16. light-colored stools
  17. lower back or side pain
  18. muscle weakness, sudden and progressing
  19. pain in the ankles or knees
  20. painful or difficult urination
  21. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  22. rapid breathing
  23. red, irritated eyes
  24. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  25. severe nausea or vomiting
  26. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  27. stomach tenderness
  28. sudden numbness and weakness in the arms and legs
  29. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  30. swollen or painful glands
  31. thickening of bronchial secretions
  32. unusual bleeding or bruising
  33. weight gain

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Sneezing

Less common

  1. Acne
  2. belching
  3. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  4. difficulty with moving
  5. dizziness or lightheadedness
  6. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  7. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  8. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  9. hearing loss
  10. heartburn
  11. muscle stiffness
  12. passing gas
  13. sensation of spinning
  14. stomach discomfort or upset

Incidence not known

  1. Burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations
  2. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  3. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet
